Portchester Sailing Club is located in the upper reaches of Portsmouth Harbour, adjacent to Portchester Castle.

Founded in 1928, the club boasts a large clubhouse, 200 moorings, and a spacious boat park for dinghies during the summer and yachts during the winter.

The club caters for dinghy sailors, yacht sailors and fishermen, supported by a great social programme.

Whatever your level of interest in sailing and leisure boating, Portchester Sailing Club has something to offer you.

Dinner and Dance 2008
Written by Paul Bayliss
16th November 2008
What a night! The annual Dinner, Dance and Prizegiving was packed full of members and guests enjoying this celebration of our season. Nick Martin, Sailing Secretary annouced the winners with a hilarious speech, and our Commodore Kath Douglass gave away the trophies. Congratulations to this seasons club champions, Chris and Ingrid Davies in the dinghies, and Reg and Elva Sillence for the cruisers.

The prizegiving programme, containing full details of all the winners, is now available for you to view in the downloads section.

Thanks are due to the Social team for putting on such a fantastic event, yet again.

Eve Trojan as well as being a trophy winner, took a multitude of pictures at the event, and has put them on her website.

23rd September 2008
The last Cruiser Race of the year turned out to be an exhilarating blast round the harbour with Gallivant taking line honours and True Blew the trophy for best cruiser corrected time.
Paul Bayliss and Brian Beavis collected the overall trophy in Brians RS400.
9 Cruisers and 5 dinghies braved a blustery day with rain squalls before retiring to the bar for Rum Punch and prize giving.

Folly Jolly and Ladies Race
Written by Andy Pidduck
22nd September 2008

The fine weather bought out 21 PSC boats for an excellent rally with around 60 members managing to eat in the Folly, some inside and some out on the veranda.

Before the meal a number of members gathered on Gallivant for drinks while latecomers moored up. An opportunity to exchange rusty cans of lager for Pimms or wine was taken up by the crew of Mogil Maid with the honour returned later that evening.

Members boats attending included, Scramasax, Lulworth, Shining Light, Tania, Sealia, True Blew, Serendipity, Maggie May, Tsarina, Seraph, Farouche, Mischief, Suzette, Walkabout, Sitting Pretty, Gallivant, Gilly VI, Allos Star & Mogil Maid. Temeraire and Footloose stayed in Island Harbour but joined in for the meal and dancing after. The Folly was particularly busy and dancing space on the tables was at a premium for most of the evening especially to see the pub manager, Andy Greenwood perform on his drum set supporting regular musician Danny Bianco.

Several boats from Hardway SC moored on the South Pontoon and joined in with the Ladies Race on the Sunday at which 10 PSC and 4 Hardway SC lady helms entered. Again, the weather held fine so once past the start the lady helms gave a fine demonstration of their helming abilities.
As so often this year, Hardway prevailed overall with Lotte on Kerry Jeanne and Linda on Tania was placed as the first PSC but in second place overall. results are now posted.

Thanks to all that turned out for the last event during my period of Cruiser Captain – Please don’t forget to come and vote for my successor at the Cruiser AGM on October 9th.
